Stephen Spielberg is one of the most well-known directors(導(dǎo)演) of our time. He was born in Cincinnati on 18 December 1946. His father was an electric engineer and his mother was a pianist. His sister, Anne Spielberg, became a screenwriter(編劇)who wrote the stories for many famous films.

Stephen had always wanted to be a director ever since he was a young boy. When he was just 13 years old, he made a 40-minute film. It won a local competition. Three years later, he produced a film called Firelight, which made one hundred dollars’ profit(盈利) at the cinema in his hometown. Many of the ideas from this film were later used for one of his most famous films called Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

When he was 18 years old, he wanted to go to film school so that he could improve his skills and become an even better director. Unluckily, he was unsuccessful in getting a place at this school so he went to a university in California to study English. Even though he had failed to get into the school he wanted to go to, he didn’t let this stop him following his dream to become a great director.

Stephen Spielberg has directed many films since his first major(主要的) film in 1976. He now owns many different businesses, most of which are involved in the film industry(涉及電影業(yè)).

Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, China, was chosen to be the host city of the 19th Asian Games(亞運(yùn)會(huì)). However, some people say that the 19th Asian Games will be held in 2022, while some say 2023. Which is true?

To make it clear, we need to have a better understanding of Asian Games first.

The Asian Games is a multi-sport event. It is held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. It is the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.

The Asian Games are always held at the same year as the World Cup, which is also held every four years. Many people around the world pay more attention to the World Cup. This really makes the Olympic Council of Asia(OCA) worried. So, the OCA decides to postpone the 18th Asian Games for a year. That is in 2019. In this way, the Asian Games won’t be held in the same year as the World Cup. So Hangzhou will hold the event in 2023.

Hanoi(河內(nèi)), capital of Vietnam(越南), is the host city of the 18th Asian Games. However, Vietnamese government announced in 2014 that Hanoi gave up the right to host the Asian Games because they don’t have enough money.

Luckily, Djakarta(雅加達(dá)), capital of Indonesia(印度尼西亞), was willing to be the host city instead of Hanoi. But then came another problem. Djakarta will hold presidential election(總統(tǒng)選舉) in 2019, so the government wanted to change the holding time of the Asian Games back to 2018. The OCA agreed.

1.The 19th Asian Games is to be held in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang in .

A. 2023 B. 2022 C. 2019 D. 2018

2.What does the underlined word “postpone” mean in the passage?

A. do something earlier B. do something on time

3.Why did the government of Indonesia wanted to change the holding time of the Asian Games back to 2018?

A. Because they don’t have enough money.

B. Because the World Cup will be held in 2018.

C. Because the OCA has advised them to change the time.

D. Because Djakarta will hold presidential election in 2019.
