It was Mary’s birthday.Her uncle wrote a letter and told her he would like to send her some chickens.She was very happy because she liked eggs and chicken.”I can keep the chickens for their eggs or eat them,”she thought.

Mr.Evans lived in a city.He was a bus driver in a company three years ago.He drove well and the people in the company all liked him.But a terrible accident changed(改變)his life.One spring he drove his bus with twenty- four workers to visit a place of interest.They had a good time there.But on their way back home, their bus was hit by a truck(卡車)because the truck driver was drunk(醉).Four workers were killed and half of the rest of the workers got badly injured.Mr.Evans was also injured.After he came out of hospital, he left the company and became a traffic policeman.He tried his best to stop the drivers from breaking the traffic riles.He worked hard and was strict with the drivers, especially the drivers that were drunk.So they were afraid of him.But the people liked him, for he was a good policeman.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith had always spent their summer holidays in New Jersey in the past, staying in a small inn at the foot of a hill.

  One year, however, Mr. Smith made a lot of money in his business, so they decided to go to London and stay at a really good hotel while they went touring around that famous city.

  They flew to London and arrived at their hotel late one evening.
