In China, a lot of food is wasted every year and the waste food is enough for     people. The food is wasted in restaurants, at home and in schools, etc.

In restaurants or at home, people often order or cook         food. But they can’t eat it up。When they go out of a restaurant, full and happy, they never look back         the uncertain food on the table again. Should Chinese consumers (消費(fèi)者) feel          for the terrible waste?

So          is necessary for us to love food and try to eat up everything on our plates. When we eat in restaurants, we should pack up the leftovers(剩菜剩飯). We also need to tell other people to stop           food as soon as possible.

A man was exploring(探測(cè))some caves on the beach.ln one of them he found a bag with many
clay(泥)balls. It seemed that someone had made them and had left them there. They interested the
man very much,so he took the bag out of the cave with him.
As he was walking down the beach,he threw one clay ball at a time into the sea as far as he could.
He didn't think much of it until he dropped one of the balls. The clay ball broke, and a beautiful,
precious stone came out of it.Excited, the man started breaking the other clay balls. He found that they
all had similar treasure in them. He found treasure that is worth thousands of dollars in the 20 left clay
balls.
He regretted that he had thrown away about 50 0r 60 of the clay balls into the sea. He could have
had a lot more money.
This is just like what happens in life. We look at people, maybe even ourselves, only from the outside. The outside doesn't look beautiful,so we pay no attention to them and only envy(羨慕)people who are
beautiful or famous. We don't notice that we may have missed the treasure inside those people.

閱讀理解。
Basketball is a young game though it is over a hundred years old.  In the year of 1891, a certain
college was having some trouble with its boy students. The weather was bad. They had to stay indoors.
As they could not take part in their usual outdoor sports, they were unhappy, and some of them even
got into fights from time to time.  Finally, one of the teachers at the college asked Dr. Naismith to invent
a game so that the students might have something to play. It was not easy to invent a game because it had
to be played indoors, and the court was not very large.  Dr. Naismith thought for a few days and invented a kind of ball game. It was a fast, exciting game with much moving and passing of the ball. Usually two teams played the game.,  In order to make a score, the ball had to be thrown into a basket ten feet above the floor on the wall. At each end of the court there was such a basket. At first, Dr. Naismith had planned to
have the ball thrown into a box. As he could not find boxes of the right size, he had to use fruit baskets.
Dr. Naismith put two fruit baskets on the walls of both sides. There were nine plavers on each side. The
players tried to throw the ball into the baskets.  There were no holes at the bottom of the baskets.  When
a ball went into the basket, it stayed there.  The game had to stop.  A player had to climb up to get the
ball out. Later people used net baskets. Now only ten members play the game. There are five players on
each side. Basketball today is played in many countries.
