Jeremy was born with a twisted body, and terminal illness slowly killing him throughout his young life. Still, his parents had tried to give him as normal a life as possible and had sent him to St. Theresa's Elementary School.

At the age of 12, Jeremy was only in second grade, seemingly unable to learn. His teacher, Doris Miller, often became angry with him. He would often disturb the class by squirming(扭動) in his seat, drooling(流口水) and making grunting(呼嚕聲)noises. Doris had 18 other youngsters to teach and she didn’t want to waste time on Jeremy.

Spring came, and the children talked excitedly about the coming of Easter. Doris told them of the story of Jesus, and stressed the idea of new life springing forth, she gave each of them a large plastic egg. "Now," she said to them, "I want you to take this home and bring it back tomorrow with something inside that shows new life. Do you understand?" "Yes, Miss Miller!" All the children responded except Jeremy. He just listened, his eyes never left her face. He did not even make his usual noises.

The next morning, the children came to school and placed their eggs in a large basket on Doris' desk. After they completed their Math lesson, it was time to open the eggs.

In the first egg, Doris found a flower. "Oh yes, a flower is certainly a sign of new life," she said. The next egg had a plastic beautiful butterfly in it. Then Doris opened the fourth egg. It was empty! Surely it must be Jeremy's she thought, and he did not understand the instructions.

She put that egg down so she wouldn’t embarrass him. Suddenly Jeremy spoke up and said "Aren't you going to talk about my egg?" Doris replied, "But Jeremy - your egg is empty!" He looked into her eyes and said softly, "Yes, but Jesus' tomb was empty too!"

Doris asked him, "Do you know why the tomb was empty?" "Oh yes!" Jeremy exclaimed. "Jesus was killed and put there. Then His Father raised Him up!"

After class the children excitedly ran out, but Doris cried. The cold inside her melted completely away.

Three months later, Jeremy died. Those who paid their respects at the funeral were surprised to see 19 eggs on top of Jeremy’s casket, all of them empty.

The news that China bans time-travel TV dramas and movies got a lot of attention on the Internet. Yet, time travel in China is a bit different from time travel in common sense. It is anything but science fiction and always goes backwards in time. There is minimum imagination involved--no ever-ending circles that mess up present and future, no advanced technology, no new social orders or new human forms from the twenty--whatever century, everything is a known historical fact when you travel through in China.

It is not even called time travel; rather the Chinese people refer to it as time crossover. Time crossover has been an extremely popular theme for online novels for years (in fact, it is an indispensable part of China's online culture), and didn't get picked up by TV and the big screen until recent two years. Most of time-travel dramas and movies are adapted from popular online novels and like in other cases adaptations are never better than the original books.

The main plot of time-travel novels or TV dramas can be very well summarized in one sentence: from nobody to somebody. Time travel in China is more about escaping from the reality than about realizing wild dreams.

In China, there is no need of time machine either. People travel backwards in time via the possession of antiques presence at historical places of interest encounter of life-threatening accidents or simple a look into the mirror. Some time-travel novels even start with ''I wanted togo back to history so much that one morning when I opened my eyes I was back.'' Technology is not relevant at all.

Though China is not short of histories to go back to, people have their own preferences and it is pretty much a gender thing. If the main character is male then he usually goes back to special times in history when he is able to help build up or tear up a dynasty. A typical example is A Step Into the Past (尋秦記), the first time-travel TV drama in China, which tells the story of how a SWAT member helps to unite China and build up Qin Dynasty.

On the other hand, female characters primarily go back to Qing Dynasty partly because Qing Dynasty has the most number of princes to fall in love with. YongZheng Emperor is the favorite. As can be seen in Startling by Each Step (步步驚心), a Qing time crossover classic, a girl goes back to Qing Dynasty and falls in love with YongZheng Emperor and his brothers.

C.Adapted from online novels, time-travel TV and movie productions enjoy more praise

D.All the time-travel productions are about heroes and their success

3. The news mentioned in the very beginning is intended to________ .

A.prove author's view B.give an example

C.work as a topic sentence D.introduce the topic

Sitting for more than three hours a day can decrease a person’s life expectancy(預期壽命)by two years, even if her or she is physically active and gets rid of (擺脫)dangerous habit like smoking ,according to a study. Watching TV for more than two hours a day can worsen that problem, decreasing life expectancy by another 1.4 years.

The analysis comes just two years after Australian researchers found that people who said they watched TV for more than four hours a day were 46% more likely to die of any cause than people who said they spent less than two hours a day watching TV. Those watching TV more than four hours a day were also 80% more likely to die of cardiovascular (心血管的) disease. “Long-sitting behavior is something we need to take note of beyond telling people to get 30 minutes of activity a day ,” said Peter T. Katzmarzyk, one of the lead researchers. But while the evidence of illnesses is increasing, it remains difficult for many people to find time to get on their feet, especially if they do desk jobs.

“Try to stand as much as you can,” Dr Katzmarzyk said. “Typically when you are on the telephone you can stand and use the speakerphone. Instead of e-mailing someone in the office, just get up and so to talk to them.” However , Dr Katzmarzyk added, standing shouldn’t be alternative to exercising, but an alternative to sitting . “Several studies show that when you’re sitting , your leg muscles are completely inactive,” he said . “When you’re sitting and completely inactive, this is when you run into trouble managing blood sugar.”

3.What does Dr Katzmarzyk think of long-sitting behavior ?

A. It warns people to exercise 30 minutes a day.

B. It’s a bad behavior worth considering seriously.

C. It can lead to death at once.

D. It is good for desk job workers.

4.According to Dr Katzmarzyk, if you are sitting all the time, you may__________.

A. phone your friends and talk about your problem

B. put on weight quickly and become more inactive

C. want to have more sugar for your meals

D. find it hard to keep your blood sugar proper

A "match of the century" between human champion of the Chinese board game Go (圍棋) and Google’s computer program kicked off in Seoul on Wednesday, which drew great attention.

The first game of the five-game match started at about 1 p.m. local time (0400 GMT) at Four Seasons Hotel in central Seoul. It will run through next Tuesday to determine the winner between South Korean Lee Sedol, the world Go champion in the past 10 years, and AlphaGo, developed by Google’s London-based subsidiary DeepMind.

The match of the century drew great attention from news organizations, Go fans and the general public across the world as well as in South Korea as it is seen as a representative match between humans and artificial intelligence (AI).

The Korea Baduk Association, a body for South Korean Go professionals, had received advance applications for an explanatory event of the match, but the limit of 60 seats had already surpassed.

South Korea’s public broadcaster KBS plans to broadcast live the match from 12:40 to 5 p.m., extending its initial plan to air it for two hours from 3 p.m. due to great interests from the general public. It is unusual for the public broadcaster to broadcast live the Go game for more than four hours.

Cable channel TV Chosun will broadcast the match’s development every 10 minutes on Wednesday and Thursday, while planning to air live the whole matches on Saturday and Sunday.

The match is being aired live through YouTube around the world, while various Internet websites and TVs are broadcasting the landmark match.

Hundreds of journalists from around the world gathered at the venue (體育比賽場所) to report on the match between Lee and AlphaGo.

AlphaGo took the world by surprise as it defeated European Go champion Fan Hui in October last year. Some experts had predicted it would take decades of years for AI to defeat humans at the ancient Chinese board game.

Go, which originated in China more than 2,500 years ago, has been viewed as a grand challenge for AI due to its complexity and intuitive nature. It involves two players, who take turns putting markers (圍棋子) on a grid-shaped board to gain more areas on it. One can occupy the markers of the opponent by surrounding the pieces of the other.
