Several interesting American museums tell about health subjects. One is the Doctor Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry. It is at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. That is where the first college in the world to train dentists began. The museum tells about the history of the medical treatment of teeth. The Kindle is coming! The Kindle is coming!
Amazon. corn will start selling its wireless electronic reader the Kindle in 100 countries, including China and most of Europe, from Monday, 19 October. The Kindle will cost $279 (189) globally. Amazon says 200,000 English-language books as well as over 85 newspapers and magazines will be available on the international device (設(shè)備).
The Kindle is popular with travellers who like the convenience of downloads and don't like carrying heavy books. Amazon says that for every 100 customers who buy a book in the US, some 48 now buy it as an e-book.
"Our vision for Kindle is every book ever printed, in print or out of print, in every language, all available within 60 seconds," Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos told the Irish Times, one of the newspapers that will be available on the device. The international Kindle version will store as many as 1,500 books, read PDF files and allow users to make annotations.
Forrester Research predicts that three million e-reader devices will be sold in the US this year, up from an earlier estimate of two million. That is expected to double next year. The research group says that Amazon will take a 60 per cent market share this year, followed by Sony’s Reader at 35 per cent. In July, Credit Suisse estimated that Amazon's revenues from the Kindle could reach $420 million this year, representing 8.4 per cent of the company's total income.
There are rumours that Amazon's next step will be to turn the Kindle into a device for tasks like e-mailing, texting and surfing the Web, thus competing with a tablet computer reportedly being developed by Apple.

Eight – year – old Jesse Abrogate was playing in the sea late one evening in July 2001 when a 7 – foot bull shark attacked him and tore off his arm. At the Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Dr Ian Rogers spent eleven hours reattaching Jesse’s arm. “It was a complicated operation,” he said, “but we were lucky. If the arm hadn’t been recovered in time, we wouldn’t have been able to do the operation at all. What I mean is that if they hadn’t found the shark, well then we wouldn’t have had a chance.’
According to local park ranger Jack Tomosvic, shark attacks are not that common. “Jesse was just unlucky,” he says, “evening is the shark’s feeding time. And Jesse was in area without lifeguards. This would never have happened if he had been in area where swimming is allowed.’
When reporters asked Jesse’s uncle how he had had the courage to fight a shark, he replied, “I was mad and you do some strange things when you’re mad.”

In formal writing, however, contractions are usually avoided because people might think that you have made a mistake, or that you do not know proper grammar.
In the same way we might make words shorter, in informal English we often make sentences shorter as well. For example, if someone asks you your name, you will likely answer with one word: your first name. However, in formal English we usually use complete sentences. For example, we might write “My name is John”. In most speaking, we may not need to use every word in a sentence because the person we are speaking to will probably still understand us.
