   Two years ago,I went to a bookstore. When I started out for home,it was already dark.

   "It looks like rain," I thought as I rode my bike home. “11 ”

   I rode as fast as I could.Suddenly,I saw a little girl crossing the street. She held a basket in her hand and looked at me. She was nervous. I was getting nearer and nearer to her. 12 Then it was too late.

   My bike hit the girl hard. She was hit so hard that she was crying. Her basket lay on the street. What could I do? One voice shouted, “ 13 ” But another voice whispered (耳語) ，“Get away as fast as you can." I didn't know what to do. It was raining and I was confused (閑惑的) . Finally,I just rode off.

   I rode on in the rain,but my heart was beating fast. I couldn't help thinking about the girl. 14 Was she hurt? I wasn't there so I didn’t know. I decided to ride back. But when I got there,the girl was gone. 15 I stood there for a long time,ashamed (羞恥) of myself.
