There is a sign at a Korean university asking tourists not to step into the grass to take photos. The sign is not written in Korean or English; it is written in Chinese.
These signs, and signs in other countries warning Chinese tourists about their behavior, have shamed many Chinese who worry about the image of the country.
Over 70 million Chinese tourists made overseas trips last year and spent $102 billion, more than the $84 billion spent by American and German tourists. For many Chinese tourists, it was their first trip abroad and they didn’t know about foreign ways. And some of these tourists took their bad habits from China with them.
Wang Yang, a Chinese deputy prime minister(國務(wù)院副總理), said, “They(the tourists) speak loudly in public, carve words or numbers on tourist attractions, cross the road when the traffic lights are still red and spit anywhere. It damages(毀壞) the image of the Chinese people and has a very bad influence.”
Before you travel to a foreign country, it’s important to learn some things about the country and its culture. You are guests in the country and it’s important to respect(尊重) your hosts. Your parents always tell you that a good education is the key to a bright future. The promise you made to finish your schooling has been completed. Another few years in some college classroom just doesn’t sound too attractive; so what are your choices? Let’s see, Choice One—You can live with your parents and do nothing. Or Choice Two—You could get yourself a job. Of course, there are other choices, but for this little discussion, we’ll just suppose that they aren’t related (有關(guān)的).
OK, so Choice Two is obviously going to be more effective. You will finally enter the real world. Well, hopefully high school helped to give you some kind of an idea of what type of job you would like to enter. If not, then it would be a good idea to speak with an expert working in the field you may be interested in before you jump into a job that you won’t like. Gaining knowledge can be good by helping you find the job that you will enjoy doing. Another reason to get some valued things before working. Internships (見習(xí)) or volunteering are usually a good place to start.
If you are ready to begin a job after high school, you will save money from college cost and happily making a living in your chosen jobs. From another point of view, jumping into the workforce (勞動(dòng)力) is sometimes the only way to see for yourself if you are ready to work a 40-hour week yet. If you decide that full time work is not what you are ready for, then this may advise that you should go back to a university and get a certificate.

Street art is a very popular form of art that is spreading quickly all over the world. You can find it on buildings, sidewalks, street signs and trash cans(垃圾桶) from Tokyo to Paris, from Moscow to Cape Town. Street art has become a global culture and even art museums and galleries(畫廊) are collecting the works of street artists.
Street art started out very secretly because it was criminal to paint public and private things without permission(允許).
People often have different opinions about street art. Some think it is a crime and others think it is a very beautiful new form of culture.
Art experts say that the street art movement began in New York in the 1960s. Young adults painted words and other images on walls and trains. This colorful style of writing became known as graffiti(涂鴉). Graffiti art showed that young people wanted to be against society. They didn’t want to accept rules and travelled around cities to create paintings that everyone could see. In many cases, they had trouble with the police and the local government.
One well-known New York street artist is Swoon. She cuts paper images of people and puts them on walls or sets them up on sidewalks. Swoon didn’t start her career as a street artist. She studied art, but as time went on, got bored with the works she saw in museums and galleries. People in New York enjoy Swoon’s strong and imaginative style. Some museums have already bought some of her works.
Advertising companies also use street art in their ads because it gives people the feelings of youth and energy.
In Today’s world the Internet has a big influence on street art. Artists can show their pictures to the audience all over the world. Many city residents, however, say that seeing a picture on the Internet is never as good as seeing it live.
