Recently, a solar-powered (太陽(yáng)能動(dòng)力的) plane took to the sky for the first time. It passed an important test on the way to travel around the world.

The plane took off from an airport in Switzerland. It slowly rose above the fields and into the sky.
“There has never been an airplane of that kind that could fly — never an airplane so big, so light, using so little energy,” said Bertrand Piccard, a leader of the project.
During the 90-minute flight(飛行), the plane did several turns. It climbed nearly 1.6km above the countryside.
Engineers plan to test a night flight before July. Then they will use the results of the tests to build a second plane. They plan to travel around the world in that plane in 2012.
“We want to fly it day and night with no fuel (燃料),” Piccard said.
Piccard and pilot(飛行員) Andre Borschberg will take the plane around the world. They will make a few stops to change places and rest after a long time in the air — and to show off their airplane.
The plane will fly at 70 km per hour on average(平均). That is faster than a bike and slower than a car. The pilots will keep the plane in the air for up to five days at a time.

If the mosquito likes you, she lands on your body without letting you know. She bites you so quickly quietly that you may not feel anything different. After she bites , you will have an itch(癢) on your body because she puts something from her mouth together with your blood. When the itch begins, she has flown away.
And then what happens? Well, after her delicious dinner, the mosquito feels tired. She wants to find a place to have a good rest. There, in a tree or on a wall, she begins to lay eggs, hundreds of eggs.

A fish that lives in America can live out of water for months at a time, similar to how animals got used to land millions of years ago, a new study shows.
The Mangrove Rivulets, a kind of little fish, lives in small pools of water. When their living place dries up, they live on the land, said Scott Taylor, a researcher in Florida.
The fish can grow as large as three inches. They group together and breathe air through their skin before they can find water again.
The new scientific discovery came during a trip.
“We were travelling for fun. and one day I kicked over a log (圓木) and the fish came out.” Taylor told reporters by telephone. He said he would make his study on the fish known to the public in an American magazine early next year.
In lab tests, Taylor said he found the fish can live up to 66 days out of water without eating.
Some other fish can live out of water for a short period of time. The walking catfish found in Southeast Asia can stay on land for hours at a time, while lungfish (肺魚) found in Australia, Africa and South America can live out of water, but only in a not active (活波的) way. But no other known fish can be out of water as long as the Mangrove Rivulets and keep active, according to Patricia Wright, a biologist at a Canadian University.&科

“These animals live in conditions similar to those millions of years ago, when animals began to move from water onto land.” Wright said.

What do you do when you are in trouble on a lonely island? Surely you need to   a way to get in touch with the outside world. Your best   of doing this is to draw the attention of a passing plane.
The smoke from a fire can be seen from far away,   it is a good way to attract attention. If the weather is dry, it's   to start a fire. But remember that fires can be very dangerous if they are out of control.    make a fire unless you're sure that it can't spread. If the ground is dark,   smoke can be seen more easily. Green grass and leaves produce white smoke.
It's a good idea to make some   , too. For example, "F" means "I need food and water'', "IF'   "I need medicine" and “I” for "I am too    hurt to move from here". These are useful symbols. Use large pieces of wood to make them. If you   find any wood, use earth.
You can be found more easily in this way.

There are many wetlands in China and some of them have become the world’s important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home for many different kinds of animals. The world’s largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve is in them. More than 700 Milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-crowned Crane Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.

When you cut your skin, you bleed(流血). If a person loses a lot of blood, he will become ill and may die. Blood is very important. People have always known that. At one time, some people even drank blood to make them strong!
When doctors understand how blood goes around inside the body, they try ways of giving blood to people who need it. They take blood from the healthy people and give it to people who need it. This is called " blood transfusion(輸血)". The blood goes from the arm of the healthy person into the arm of the sick person.
But there are two problems. First, it does not always work. Sometimes people die when they have blood transfusion. Later, doctors find that we do not all have the same kind of blood. There are four groups—O, A, B and AB. We all have blood of one of these groups. They also find that they can give any kind of blood to people of group AB. But they find that they must give A-group blood to A-group people and B-group blood to B-group people. I have O-group blood and the doctor told me that I could give blood to anyone else safely.
There is another problem. To give blood of the right kind, doctors have to find a person of the right blood group. Often they can not find a person in time. If they have a way to keep the blood until someone needs it, they can always have the right kind of blood. At first they find they can keep it in bottles for fifteen to twenty days. They do this by making it very cold. Then they find how to keep it longer. In the end they find a way of keeping blood for a very long time.
We call a place where we keep money a "bank". We call a place where we keep blood a "blood bank". One day, when you grow up, you may decide to give blood to a "blood bank". In this way you may stop someone from dying. Or perhaps one day you may become ill. You may need blood. The "blood bank" will give it to you.
