When your grandparents were young,the world was very different. People did not have computers or cell phones (手機(jī)) that we have today to communicate with each other. These things did not appear yet. It took longer for people to get news from each other. Today there are more ways of communication which make it possible for people to get in touch with each other at any time.
Long ago,people wrote letters to stay in touch with others. Letters were first carried by horses.Only the fastest horse riders were paid to carry letters across the country. Then trains began to carry letters from city to city. By the early 1900s,planes were a faster way to carry letters across the country and around the world.
As times change,new communicative ways make it easy to keep in touch with friends and family in a very short time!
People began to use telephone in the late 1800s.
Computers have made some of the biggest changes in communication. The Internet sends email messages around the world very quickly!
Cell phones can do many things. We can carry it with US anywhere we travel. Cell phones can even let you take pictures,and can send these images to other cell phones.

On hearing that,the little boy was so moved that he ran towards his mother with tears (眼淚) in his eyes. He put his arms around her and held her right hand for the rest of the day.

“Ding-Dong!” the doorbell was ringing.
“Jason,c?n you answer the door?” the mother asked.

“Tomorrow,maybe,maybe …”Jason was too busy to finish his words. He thought there would be more parts to beat tomorrow. After a minute,he heard Todd walking away. He was busy beating the next part and had no time to care Todd's leaving.
An hour later,Jason’s father came home. It was dinner time after his father washed up and sat down. Jason didn't even hear his name being called for the meal. He didn’t hear his father walking up behind him and asking him to turn the game off,either.
When the computer screen suddenly went black and his father5s angry face appeared in front of him,JavSon finally heard ,“No more game for a month!” Jason’s father shouted at him. “You don't play basketball,you don't come to dinner,and you don't do your chores. We’ll make sure everything else gets down before you play any more!”
Jason nodded (點(diǎn)頭) slowly. He knew it was better not to argue with his father. Then he was thinking about what had done recently,and came to realize that he had been playing quite a bit.
