Mo Yan, 57 ,won the Nobel Prize in Literature on October 11 , 2012, becoming the first Chinese writer ever to win the award. 1       "If you read half a page of Mo Yan you immediately know it's him”,said Peter Englund, head of the Swedish Academy.

Mo Yan was born in 1955 and grew up in Gaomi, Shandong. His parents were farmers.

2       He first worked in the field and then became a worker in a factory. 3       In 1981 , his first book came out.

In the years to follow,Mo gradually formed a writing style of his own. 4      

Mo became interested in reading books when he was a child. His deep love for literature finally brought him success.
