One day I received several emails asking for help for sick children. I decided to post their stories and pictures on a webpage. What began as a     has grown into a fulltime job I enjoy doing every day. Since my website was built, I’ve received tens of emails from worried parents asking me to put their child’s story online. The teacher stood before his class of 30 students and was going to hand out the final exam papers. “I know how hard you have all worked to get ready for this test. ” he said. “And because I know you are all able to understand these questions. I am ready to offer a B to anyone who would prefer not to take the test. ’’
A number of students jumped up to thank the teacher and left the classroom. The teacher looked at the rest students and said. “Does anyone else want to get a B? This is your last chance. ”Two more students decided to go. Seven students stayed. The teacher then handed out the papers. There were only three sentences on the paper: Congratulations! You have received an A in this class. Keep believing in yourself.

They have learned life’s lessons. whether from school education or from events in their lives, and have become better people. Scientists say that by the age of eight,80% of what we believe about ourselves has already been formed. You are a big kid now and you realize that you have some limits(局限). In front of my daughter, Shelly, was a bowl filled with cabbage. She hated cabbage. She only sat there in silence with tears in her eyes.
“Shelly, my dear, why don’t you eat a little? If not, your mum will shout at us.”
Shelly didn’t feel happy. “OK, dad. I will eat, just a little.” Then Shelly said, “Dad, if I eat it all, will you give me what I want?”

Do you know star anise? It has a Chinese name “bajiao”(八角). You can find this spice(調(diào)味料) in almost all Chinese kitchens. Suddenly people around the world need the small fruit from which the spice is made, because of bird flu(禽流感).

Bird flu has made tens of millions of birds die and killed at least 60 people in Asia. Scientists say if flu changes to spread from person to person, it could kill millions!
A medicine called Tamiflu(達(dá)菲) is supposed to fight bird flu in humans. Roche, a Swiss company, developed it. But Roche says it hasn’t enough raw material(原料) to make lots of Tamiflu. The material is the Chinese spice star anise.
About 90% of the world’s star anise is produced in South China. The fruit is harvested(豐收) between March and May. Besides spice, people also use it as medicine.
