Tell your car to make a phone call without holding the phone.Tell your car to send an e-mail without touching the computer or even tell your car to send a call for help.Sound like something from a science fiction(科幻)movie.Well, thanks to a new "talking car" , this is soon to become reality.
Road Track.the Israeli(以色列)producer of Chevrolet(雪弗萊), has built a computer platform called Chevy Star.It offers the driver a wide range of things you can get with your voice.
It uses a box the size of a mobile phone attached to(貼到)the rear view mirror(后視鏡).The driver can use it to be in touch with Road Track' s Offices. Many operators(接線員)work round the clock so as to answer the phone and the needs of drivers.
To get into the car, the driver has to say a secret code, such as “Open Sesame”(芝麻開(kāi)門), for the doors to open and the engine to start.Upon entering the car, the driver has three buttons: one for emergencies, another for telephone calls and a third for practical information. When the driver presses the emergency(緊急事故)button, the operator calls the car to ask if there is a problem. If the driver is lost, the operator can use a map to help the driver find his or her way.“It depends 100 percent on the voice, so you don't need to take your eyes off the road or hands off the wheel to use it.You just speak out and then the operator gives you instructions,” said Danny Laguna of Chevrolet. The operator also alerted(警惕的)when the driver hits your brake(剎車器)too hard. And if operators find a problem anywhere on the car, they warn the driver straight away.Need to make a phone call? It is believed that Egyptians drive on the right, although many choose to drive along the middle of the road. The most important and necessary part of an Egyptian driver’s car isn’t anything to do with how good, safe or fast the car is —it is the horn (喇叭)!
The horn is sounded to greet friends or to make camels or donkeys move along the street. These animals often cause problems when they are in front of the car. Sometimes, people who are selling small things around the car also cause trouble, so the drivers use the horn to tell them they are not welcome. All of these above reasons have one aim: to keep other road users out of the way. However, there are also some special cases. For example, people can use the horn to allow another road user onto the road, but this seldom happens. They do so only because they feel like it. They also use the horn to warn the poor traffic policeman. They have to be careful when they are on duty at crossroads because Egyptian drivers either are color-blind or don’t understand what the true meaning of a traffic light is. The drivers don’t slow down or stop, mostly because they can’t, even if they want to.
When visiting the capital, Cairo, you will find that it is a busy city, with lots of cars, motorbikes and pollution! It’s almost like a movie, people coming or going around the streets on bikes or cars driving all over the place. However, be careful when crossing a road because they do not stop for anyone.

A. the city isn’t a busy one
B. it is a city full of traffic
C. the car stops for you when you cross the road
D. there are almost no policemen on the street
5. This text is mainly about _______.
A. the traffic in Egypt B. the Egyptian new car
